I've been there nine or ten times now (truth is, I've lost count) and I can't wait to go back. But I still remember how confusing it was when I first arrived: I wish I'd had these India travel tips then.

I know I'm not the only one who's become completely enchanted with India. Despite everything, India will capture your heart.

And frankly, there is a fair bit of "despite-ing" to be done.

For the really keen traveler, I've also included a section on language learning. For a two week holiday, it may not seem worth the trouble, but when you too find yourself returning year after year for months at a time, I know you'll thank me!

It's a cliche that India is a 'land of contrasts', but that's only because it's true! I've seen some huge changes there over the last 20 years and yet there's still the mega-rich and the mega-poor, scam artists and saints and everything in between.

It's these sorts of extremes that make up a rich and compelling travel experience, so if you can cope with being occasionally frustrated as well as fascinated, then it's time to pack your bags.

My hope is that once you've had a good look through this website, you'll know for sure three things.

One: That as much as you think you might be prepared, you never can be.

Two: That if you keep your eyes open, what you see will change you.

And Three: That's how a rich and interesting life ought to be lived.
